Why fence?

If you are exploring fencing for the first time, then you have come to the right place. Here at Fighting Fit Fencing we take the time to get to know each of our students and their individual needs.

Our friendly instructors will ease you in and you will quickly learn that fencing is a lot of fun and is a great exercise to keep you in shape. We are committed to teaching you everything we know about the sport and soon you will see why we love fencing so much ourselves. Before you know it, that inner swashbuckler will jump out!

Adults

Beginner fencers are our favourite type of fencer — we just love being able to teach you everything from the beginning! We make no bones about it though; we want you to enjoy the sport of fencing but we also want you to learn how to fence the modern sport of fencing in the correct way. 

Children

We allow anyone over the age of four to fence at Fighting Fit, regardless of their ability. In fact there are many people taking up fencing in their sixties and beyond. Opponents can compete on equal terms, as strength is not a requirement. There is no need to worry if you are too slow, fast, large, small, tall, or short, fencing has a place for all shapes, sizes, and abilities.

Those who are over the age of six in our beginner sessions will use Olympic style metal fencing equipment. Only those in the four to six age group will use foam and plastic. This is to ensure they are fully protected.
